As a part of its on-going charge to promote the environmental performance of all state operations, Greening the Government has implemented a number of specific initiatives aimed at reducing waste, decreasing energy use, and making government a more efficient user of materials.
In addition to these greening sponsored programs, there are a number of ways each state employee can work towards a healthier environment.
By duplexing copy and printing jobs, agencies save paper and money. All agencies should double-side all copy and laser printing operations, except when current technology does not allow for this provision or when specific documents require single-sided printing. Whenever possible, new copy and printing machines will have duplex capabilities. Be sure that these duplex features on equipment are activated.
The State of Indiana is a member of the U.S. EPA's Energy Star Partnership. As such, we are working to reduce our energy consumption. Employees can make a big difference by taking some of the following steps:
Inter-departmental Mailing Envelopes
Please send all extra inter-departmental mailing envelopes (the goldenrod or light brown envelopes that have a string tie closure) to Central Mail for reuse. When the envelope "To" and "From" areas are completely full, simply print State Form 50196, and tape it over the used envelope to start another cycle.
