The OLQ Chemistry Section provides technical support for remediation, permitting, and compliance programs for the Office of Land Quality. Technical assistance is available for environmental consultants, laboratories, and the general public.
The OLQ Geological Services Section provides quality professional geological advice to the public, other state agencies, environmental professionals, and various IDEM remediation and environmental clean up programs.
RISC is a guidance manual that describes how to achieve consistent closure of contaminated soil and groundwater using IDEM programs. It is a non-rule policy document, which means that RISC does not have the full force and effect of law. Existing laws give IDEM the authority to require cleanups of contaminated sites and RISC defines objectives and options for how to do it. RISC applies to contaminated industrial, commercial, or residential sites that are currently covered under existing IDEM programs.
