
Those working to remove asbestos must be licensed to work in Indiana. There are various required levels of experience, training, and fees associated with each type of license. In order to obtain a license an applicant must submit a complete application provided by IDEM. All applications must be completed in writing and submitted to the IDEM Office of Air Quality, Lead/Asbestos Section, for processing. Please note that, under Indiana Administrative Code 326 IAC 18-1-5(g), IDEM will not process applications on a walk-in basis or over the telephone - this means that one should not expect to submit their application for an asbestos removal license and receive their license the same day. Timeframes for the processing of applications are given in the table below.
