CTAP: Compliance and Technical Assistance Program
The Compliance and Technical Assistance Program (CTAP) is Indiana's small business assistance program (SBAP). CTAP provides free, confidential, environmental assistance to Indiana businesses. CTAP is a non-regulatory program that provides many services, but the one most frequently used by Indiana businesses is the confidential phone assistance. CTAP staff are available weekdays to answer your environmental questions regarding air, water, and waste regulations, pollution prevention, and recycling. CTAP provides assistance regarding ISO 14000, which is the internationally accepted environmental management system standard that was published in 1996 and updated in 2004. CTAP offers a Quality Assurance Guarantee that IDEM will not issue a Notice of Violation assessing a gravity-based penalty against a regulated entity that has sought out, received, and relied upon CTAP’s written compliance assistance prior to the alleged violation.
Regional CTAP Staff
CTAP staff are located throughout Indiana including Evansville, Jeffersonville, Indianapolis, Gary, and Elkhart. Staff in these cities assist businesses in nearby counties. You can reach CTAP staff in any part of the state by calling 800-988-7901 or by calling the regional staff directly.
The representative in each region provide local businesses with confidential on-site visits and phone assistance in all areas of environmental compliance, whether relating to air, water, or waste. Businesses can utilize the on-site services to receive an assessment of their overall compliance status or to determine which environmental regulations may apply to their business. Encouraging and promoting pollution prevention and recycling techniques is also an integral aspect of the assistance.
