Compliance monitoring begins in IDEM’s three program areas:
These programs monitor compliance through inspections and evaluations of self-reporting. When violations are discovered they may be referred to the Office of Enforcement. If non-compliance involves criminal activity a referral may be made to the Office of Criminal Investigations.
Businesses in Indiana that need compliance assistance may contact IDEM’s Compliance and Technical Assistance Program (CTAP). CTAP provides confidential compliance assistance to Indiana businesses and offers educational workshops, confidential phone assistance, compliance assistance manuals and fact sheets.
The Office of Enforcement uses an enforcement tracking database to track referrals. You can use the Enforcement Database to search for enforcement actions by the facility name or county.
