Indiana Beach Program

Indiana's beaches are a wonderful place to play, watch wildlife, fish, and swim. With these beaches giving us so much, we have to protect them from a variety of potential problems. We can help you plan a trip to the beach, learn about beaches and the issues around them, and understand how we protect beaches.

Online Applications and Mobile Apps

Whether you’re at home or on-the-go, IDEM has you covered with up-to-date information on current water quality conditions at Lake, Porter, LaPorte and Kosciusko County beaches throughout the swimming season. Desktop or laptop users can use the BeachGuard Online Monitoring website; Android or other mobile device users, the BeachesAlert Mobile Application; and, iPhone/iPad users, the Indiana Beach Alert app.

  • BeachGuard Online Monitoring System:
    • BeachGuard is IDEM’s online interface for beach notifications, tailored to the larger screen of a desktop or laptop computer.
      • Note: If you experience a login pop-up window when opening the BeachGuard link, please disregard and left-click “Cancel” to access the site.
  • BeachesAlert Mobile Application for Android Users:
    • This web application brings you the same information as the BeachGuard system, but in a mobile-friendly format.
  • Indiana Beach Alert iPhone App:
    • Users of iOS products need look no farther for beach information than the Beach Alert App, available on iTunes or through the App Store.
