Chapter 8 - Section I: Overview

Environmental protection in Indiana has come a long way since 1986, when the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) was established. Since then, IDEM has grown to a staff of 900, and employs some of Indiana's most qualified engineers, scientists and environmental project managers specializing in air, land, pollution prevention and water quality issues. Our staff members work hard to provide quality environmental oversight and technical assistance in your community and around the state. Whether you're a business owner, consultant, student, farmer, teacher or parent, IDEM is here to help you. The information in this chapter is intended to provide quick links to additional information about the agency or the activities it conducts with a goal of assisting Hoosiers in learning about the agency.
