Public Information Officers (PIOs) in IDEM’s Office of Media Relations are available to respond to media questions and interview requests. Below are the phone numbers to reach a PIO for the agency’s primary regulatory issues. If you cannot determine which topic your question falls under, please call (317) 233-4927.

Air Quality: (317) 232-8499

Permits, ozone, fine particulate matter (PM2.5), ambient air monitoring, air toxics, open burning, national health standard attainment/nonattainment, rulemaking, asbestos, lead and vehicle inspection.

Land Quality: (317) 232-8596

Solid waste (including landfills and transfer stations), clean-up sites, environmental emergencies (including spills), salvage yards, industrial waste, hazardous waste (treatment, storage or disposal), waste tires, illegal open dumps, confined feeding facilities, permits, inspections, enforcement and rules.

Grand Calumet Feasibility Study, voluntary pollution prevention (including awards and incentive programs, recycling programs and grants and environmental education) and small business technical assistance (including confidential and technical compliance assistance for small businesses and toxic release inventory).

Drinking water, municipal wastewater, industrial wastewater, sewer overflows, water quality in Indiana's rivers and lakes, wetlands, regional sewer districts, watershed management, groundwater, water violations and enforcement.
