House Enrolled Act 1482 was passed in 2013, allowing individuals to have their criminal records expunged under the proper circumstances. The ICSSBM and our community partners brought our “2nd Chance Law” Forums across the state to inform communities about the particulars of the bill, helping people get back on their feet and positively impact their families and communities.
This year we are preparing to get back out and host more “2nd Chance Law” forums and workshop sessions. The current dates are tentative, but we will be looking to get started in August and continue through the autumn season. The forums will feature authors of the HEA 1482 as well as legal experts and representatives from various community organizations.
The forums will once again be free and open to the public. Attorneys will be present to answer questions and provide information on the guidelines, process and various legal aspects regarding the bill. Attendees are encouraged to bring pertinent documents if they have inquiries about their personal circumstances.
