Legacy Projects > John Martin Smith DeKalb County Heritage Fund Launch John Martin Smith DeKalb County Heritage Fund Launch
This project, coordinated by current DeKalb County Historian John Bry, celebrates the contributions of the late John Martin Smith, who served as DeKalb County Historian for more than a quarter of a century. This fund in his memory at the DeKalb County Community Foundation is a lasting legacy that will provide a celebratory endowment designed to foster and support the preservation, promotion and interpretation of De Kalb County’s history that is all-inclusive, supports programs for youth understanding of local heritage, and celebrates the history and heritage of the county as part of the state’s bicentennial year.
