Indiana Bicentennial Celebration 2016

Legacy Projects > White River Cemetery Restoration White River Cemetery Restoration

White River Cemetery is the oldest in the Winchester community. The church at this site was organized in 1818, the same year Randolph County was established. The cemetery is the burial site of several notable Civil War soldiers, government founders and other pioneers. The cemetery had deteriorated significantly by the last burial there in 1999. Professional restoration began in 2014 and continues. The committee believes all restoration will be complete in 2018, the bicentennial year of Randolph County.
