Q&A with Legacy Project Coordinator June Julien

What do you consider the key accomplishment of your Legacy Project?

  • Recognition of our natural resources and many lakes formed by glaciers. Utilized fish to discuss many different topics. Including , but not limited to, the role of the art of fishing as an important part of our tourism infrastructure, the history of lake formation by glaciers, the importance of water to life and maintaining a healthy lifestyle via water activities. Of course, we centered all discussion around the state of Indiana and our superior natural resource supply.

Describe a highlight or most memorable moment related to your Legacy Project.

  • The manager of our state park, Pokagon State Park, utilized the fish to celebrate the park Centennial also. Mr. Bohman taught many fishing classes during the year. We also really enjoyed passing the fish out during the dedication of Monument Plaza and the torch relay (held at Pokagon.)
