Legacy Projects > Hoosier Philanthropy: Understanding the Past, Planning for the Future Hoosier Philanthropy: Understanding the Past, Planning for the Future

This project is inspired by the celebration of the bicentennial of the founding of Indiana and Indiana University to examine the role that philanthropy has played in the development of Indian’s public life and to discuss how philanthropic action can continue to advance the public good. The project consists of multiple levels of engagement including: a free conference featuring thought leaders among academics and practitioners; a book that provides an overview of the field, including historical case studies as well as engagement with future planning; a website with resources to understand the past and engage new philanthropists through the history; and published lesson plans/modules for high school students.
