Legacy Projects > Stone’s Trace Pioneer Festival Stone’s Trace Pioneer Festival

The Stone’s Trace Pioneer Festival is based upon experiential education from traditions and lifestyle crafts handed down from our ancestors. Many of these crafts are also based on extensive research of a chosen trade which all come together to create a cultural immersion experience for young and old. The festival brings pre 1870 local history embraces concepts of self sufficiency and innovation based on the necessity of surviving in the early pre-settlement era of northeastern Indiana. 

Stone’s Trace Pioneer Festival and Regulators Rendezvous – Saturday September 12, 9:30am-6:00pm with an evening potluck supper and square dance to live music. Sunday, September 13, 9:30am-4:00pm. Admission is $5 per person, children 12 and under free and handicap accessible.

What do you consider the key accomplishment(s) of your Legacy Project?

  • Having the opportunity to promote our historical site to the State of Indiana.

Describe a highlight or most memorable moment related to your Legacy Project.

  • Having the opportunity to meet and converse with the great granddaughter of Richard Stone, the original owner of the site.

How/where are you preserving information and artifacts related to your Legacy Project.

  • Our festival is just one of the activities at our historical site. Artifacts are preserved in the museum, newspaper articles in a scrapbook also to be placed in the museum. An informational video is in process highlighting the events of 2016, which will be available for historical and media purposes.
