Indiana Bicentennial Celebration 2016

Amber Alert
Amber Alert - TEST

Legacy Projects > Proud to be an American Boat Parade Proud to be an American Boat Parade

On July 4, 2015, 450 military veterans and loved ones board the Madam Carroll excursion boat (free) in Monticello, IN (population 6000). The Madam Carroll and veterans will lead a long line of 95 patriotically decorated boats in the 11th annual Proud to be an American Honor our Military Patriotic Boat Parade. They are saluted by a 5 plane military flyover. From a historical perspective, White County has always been patriotic. Our Bicentennial would be incomplete without acknowledging the sacrifice of our veterans.
What will follow the flyover is a good old fashioned small town America Independence Day celebration in the city park attended by 1600. Four flag bearing sky divers will kick it off with free hot dogs, watermelon, ice cream and free family games. The Purdue University Boilermaker Special will provide free rides and the Indiana University Health lifeline Helicopter will land on the ball diamond. Scholarships will be awarded to area high school students for an essay on Proud to be an American. This is truly a family event.
