Indiana Bicentennial Celebration 2016

Amber Alert
Amber Alert - TEST

Legacy Projects > Decatur County 1916 Pageant Decatur County 1916 Pageant

In October 1916, Decatur County was planning to celebrate Indiana’s Centennial with a variety of events including a parade and an extensive pageant that depicted 100 years of Decatur County history. The pageant produced a sixty page booklet with a cover design by a St. Paul, Indiana artist. It was planned for outdoors due space required. Unfortunately, following the Centennial parade, it began to rain and continued for several days. Following that it got cold and the pageant was never performed.

For Indiana’s bicentennial, we plan to bring the pageant to life with the help of history students from Greensburg Junior High School and Greensburg High School. Performance will be at the Chautauqua in the fall semester, 2016. Students from the High School TV will film the production and will make it available to the public. Tickets will be sold to the community and any proceeds will be put into a History fund in the developing Greensburg Community Schools Foundation.
