Legacy Projects > Richard Quigley Memorial Jazz Festival Richard Quigley Memorial Jazz Festival

The Richard Quigley Memorial Jazz Festival, in its 17th year, was established to honor a Peru native son, the late Richard Quigley, renowned tenor saxophonist and jazz musician. Only outstanding musicians from Miami and surrounding counties are invited to perform jazz music created by Indiana composers. Friday night will feature Dave Lowe and the Peru High School Swing Choir, Saturday is big band night and Sunday will feature the Richard Quigley Combo and other Indiana Jazz Musicians.

What do you consider the key accomplishment(s) of your Legacy Projects?

  • Celebration of our state's 200th birthday. Further promoted the Quigley Jassfest as an excellent educational program, and perpetuation of jazz and swing music in our area.

Describe a highlight or most memorable moment related to your Legacy Project.

  • Return appearance of a perfromer who had suffered a severe stroke.

How/where are you preserving informatoin and artifacts related to your Legacy Project?

  • The local Peru Circus Festival Band has been and will be keeping all of our organizational materials, programs, donor lists, sponsors, and financial state reports thru the Miami Community Foundation on file.
