Take a Tour of the Indiana State Archives
Find Your Indiana Story
Come visit the Indiana State Archives to see Indiana's treasures. Explore your Indiana Story by scheduling a tour of the State Archives' collection.
What is covered?
A general tour of the State Archives involves seeing materials that date from the 1700s to present day.
Tours are available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For groups of 30 or more, please schedule a visit in advance.
Tour Size Suggestion
We recommend up to 30 people at one time for the most positive experience as some of our exhibits and collections have limited space. If your group is larger than that we can discuss several different options to best accommodate your group.
Indiana State Archives student group visits are free!
General tours of the Indiana State Archives last approximately one hour. Special requests for longer tours may be considered if booked far enough in advance.
Special subjects/topics that relate to Indiana Academic standards can be included when requested in advance. Please let us know if you need a lunch space.
Join Indiana's State Archivist every third Friday of the month at 11 a.m. to go on a personal behind-the-scenes tour of the State Archives collection. This is an opportunity to enter the Archives' secured stacks, sealed vaults and see the safe that secures the Constitution.
