How To Play:
  • Each play costs $1.
  • Each play consists of 5 numbers from 1 - 55 and one number from 1 - 42.
  • Select your numbers: Mark 5 numbers in the top section of the board or select Quick Pick (QP) to let the terminal randomly select your numbers. Mark 1 number in the bottom section or select Quick Pick (QP) to let the terminal randomly select your number. This is your Powerball number. You can play up to 5 boards per playslip. Hand mark the playslip using black or blue ink or pencil.
  • Multi-Draw: Mark the number of drawings you want to play: (2,3,4,5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10).
  • POWERBALL TICKETS CANNOT BE CANCELED.
How To Play The Powerball "Power Play" Feature

Play Powerball as you normally do. Ask the Lottery clerk for the Powerball Power Play feature. The cost of your play will be double - activating the Power Play feature costs an additional dollar per $1 Powerball play. If you have a winning ticket, other than the jackpot, your prize will be multiplied up to five times. The amount that your prize is multiplied by is determined by the Power Play number selected in the drawing.

How To Win:

On Powerball draw days, the regular Powerball drawing is held as usual. After that, a drawing is conducted using a wheel containing 16 slots ranging from 2 to 5. Whatever number the wheel lands on is what Power Play will multiply your secondary winnings by. There are four slots for each of the multipliers 2, 3, 4 and 5. See chart and odds below.

*NA: The Power Play multiplier will apply to all prize levels with the exception of the jackpot

Example 1: Suppose you play $1 on Powerball and $1 on Power Play. What are the odds of winning $15, by matching only the Powerball (match 0 of 5 plus PB) and getting a multiplier of 5? Refer to the Nine Ways to Win table above. The odds of matching 0 of 5 plus the Powerball equal 1:69. The odds of getting a 5 multiplier equal 1:4 (see Power Play multiplier odds in the above table). To calculate the odds of winning $15, simply multiply the odds together. That equals 1 in 276 (= 69 x 4).

Example 2: Suppose you play $1 on Powerball and $1 on Power Play. What are the odds of winning $400,000, by matching all numbers drawn except the Powerball (Match 5 of 5) and getting a multiplier of 2? Refer to the Nine Ways to Win table above. The odds of matching 5 of 5, but not the Powerball equal 1:3,563,609. The odds of getting a 2 multiplier equal 1:4 (see Power Play multiplier odds in the above table). To calculate the odds of winning $400,000, simply multiply the odds together. That equals 1 in 14,254,436 (= 3,563,609 x 4)

Prize totals shown represent the final amount won.

Although most players take the cash option, the Powerball jackpot will be paid in 30 annual installments. Annuity winners will receive their first payment immediately, and will then receive a guaranteed return and annual payments for the next 29 years after their win.

If the cash option is selected, the Powerball jackpot will be paid in a single, present value cash payment.

Match 5 Bonus Prizes

At no additional cost, Powerball offers a Match 5 Bonus Prize feature designed to share the wealth when the jackpot reaches a new record level. The Hoosier Lottery will announce when the new bonus feature becomes effective, but watch for it whenever Powerball is estimated to reach a jackpot level that is more than $25 million over the previous record. At these new levels, the jackpot will be increased in increments of $25 million regardless of the amount of revenue generated by ticket sales, and sales above this amount will be used to create a Bonus Prize Pool. When the jackpot is won, the bonus pool money will be divided among players who win Powerball's second prize by matching the first five numbers but not the Powerball.

Prizes can be claimed by the following methods:

If claiming by mail and prize is greater than $25, a claim form provided by the Hoosier Lottery must be used. You can download a claim form by going to the CLAIMING PRIZES page. Mail all claims to:
