Members and Friends:

I am taking this opportunity to renew past president Marianne Wokeck’s thanks to everyone who has been involved and supported the IAH in the past.   As Marianne noted, history study and scholarship  in this new era continues to challenge us.  The IAH mission to promote the study and scholarship of history—in the state and the nation—is more vital than ever.  The IAH is not for profit and continues to rely on the generosity of  members for contributions of time and money.  Keep the following in mind if you wish to continue to support the IAH and its mission.

1.    Renew your membership.

2.    Be a recruiter and persuade at least one of your colleagues to become a member: membership dues are very reasonable and the annual Thornbrough Lecture and meeting as well as the History Educators Network of Indiana (HENI) provide opportunities to learn and to network with historians in the state.

3.    Be a supporter of the IAH and contribute to the special funds that promote the special-focus work of the organization (donations can be made online through PayPal or with a credit card, or by mailing cash or a check):

a.    History Education Fund (ICHE; HENI)

b.    Public Advocacy Fund

c.    Taylor Lecture Fund

d.    Thornbrough Lecture Fund

4.    Become involved in the association as a councilor or officer. Please indicate your interests in this kind of contribution to the 2011 president, Joel Shrock.

5.  Come to the annual meeting.

May your endeavors in 2011-2012 be fruitful.

Best Wishes,

Joel D. Shrock
