Miss Sarah E. Hocker,

   Dear Old Pal,

Your letter was recd. several weeks ago. And was delighted to hear from you. This leaves us all well. Hope and trust these few line will find you all like wise. Well dear I suppose you have heard about my boy which was borned May 29th at 12 o’clock in the night. His name is Howard Lawrence Jr. Of course we call him by initials H.L. I am up now, but not working. We hired Larene to stay two weeks with us, but she is going home this week I think. I sure did have an easy time I thought. Well dear heart, I have one and we wouldn’t take the world for him. But great goodness I sure wouldn’t give a penny for another one. Howard is at the bed every five minuets when he’s at home. Ha Ha. It sure is a pretty day today.

You might know how proud we are of him. He sure is a large baby. He weighed 8lbs. When he was born and now he is twist as large. Everyone just takes on how large he is to his age. He will be a month old Thur. He is just like James was when he was little. Well sweetheart I have 70 little chickens, and 11 of them frying size. I had fryed chicken for breakfast yesterday morning. Well how many have you all?

Dear, it will soon be my birth-day. The 27th of this month. I am going to try and see you in Aug. I sure am coming out there Howard is at work today. Give our best regards to Mrs. Bettie, and Miss Mable. Also Mr. Ralph. I guess you have got a lots of nice clothes for this summer. I am fixing to make out my order now for my slippers, Hat, and petticoats, stockings, dresses, and the baby’s things. I wouldn’t get a thing before I got sick, because I didn’t know whether I was going to live or not. Ha Ha. Well I have another quiet (cannot make out this line) will be three to be quieted for me.

Well I hope you good success and the best of health. Hope you will get married to a man of plenty wealth Ha Ha. I am full of fun dear like I always was. I often think of the nice but lonesome times we use to have together. But darling I don’t guess them times will ever come back again. Also who goes with you now? Darling, you can tell Mrs. Maggie McKinney about my boy also the Cooks and the Bests. Ha Ha. I hope to see you all soon, and have a great long conversation with you about old times. Well dear I guess this is all for this time. I can write like I can talk no way. So you be sweet and write me often. For I never will forget you, no matter where I go. I will always write you. So I will not detain you any longer.

Your Dear Friend.
