House Republican Halftime Report

House Republicans entered the 2010 legislative session with an aggressive agenda focused on protecting taxpayers, growing jobs and enacting meaningful government reform. At the halfway point this session, several of the key initiatives listed in our agenda have passed and are close to becoming law.

One of our most significant goals has already been achieved. This coming November, Hoosiers will be able to vote on whether or not the property tax caps should be added to the state constitution. House Joint Resolution 1 contained language that capped homeowner's property taxes at one percent of assessed value, rental and agricultural property at two percent of assessed value and business property at three percent of assessed value. HJR 1 passed both the House and the Senate during the first half of session.

During the remaining weeks of session, we hope to see even more of these critical agenda items pass the Indiana General Assembly. To receive updates on the progress we're making, sign up for the House Republican e-newsletter by entering your email address on the left side of this page.
