Karen Pence has been a school teacher for more than 25 years. She is a watercolor artist, small business owner and has exhibited her paintings for several years at Penrod, a fine arts festival in Indianapolis. Mrs. Pence is honorary chair of the Art Therapy Initiative at Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis and a board member of Tracy's Kids, an art therapy program for several children's hospitals in Washington, D.C.
Recently, Mrs. Pence was named official Bicentennial Ambassador by the Indiana Bicentennial Commission. In this position, she will play a key role in the planning and execution of a statewide celebration for Indiana’s 200th birthday in 2016. Learn more about this role here.
Mrs. Pence earned a B.S. and M.S. in elementary education from Butler University. She and Governor Mike Pence have been married since 1985 and have three grown children: Michael, Charlotte, and Audrey.
