During the month of February, Indiana state employees will be participating in the Hoosiers Helping Hoosiers food drive to benefit Indiana residents in need. This annual food drive is sponsored by the Office of First Lady Cheri Daniels.
Central Indiana donations will benefit Gleaners Food Bank, while agencies throughout the state will work with area food banks. In 2011, over 70 agencies and 204 divisions collected more than 95,700 non-perishable items and $11,230 to benefit Hoosiers in need.
The signature event for the Hoosiers Helping Hoosiers food drive is IndiCANa, a structure building competition with cans. This event will be held on Monday, February 27, in the Indiana Government Center South atrium. Teams of up to four state employees can register to compete. For more information about this competition, including registration procedures, visit http://www.in.gov/gov/firstlady/2559.htm.
Please check this website throughout February to see how state employees are making a difference in the lives of fellow Hoosiers.
