Indiana Long Term Care Insurance Program 2007 Partners Update

April-May-June
Newsletter of the Indiana Long Term Care (Partnership) Program

The Partnership Program has new personnel.  Rebecca Vaughan, has joined the Program as Director, Indiana Long Term Care Insurance Partnership Program.  Rebecca comes to the program with several years of insurance experience both as a company representative and independent agent.  We are excited about the expertise she brings to the Partnership Program as it continues developing and expanding   Becky can be reached at rvaughan@idoi.in.gov or (317) 232-2187.

The 2007 Seminars for Partners (3 hour CE class) is approved and ready to kick off. Classes will begin in May this year with more dates and additional cities.  The course includes a review of the Partnership Program, discussion of Medicaid as it relates to the Partnership, and valuable information for long term care professionals.

Classes will be taught by experienced continuing education instructors – Insight LTCi Services, John Hancock Financial Network, Oberlin Marketing, and Professional Training Institute (PTI).

The Seminars for Partners registration brochure will be mailed in early-April to individuals on the Partnership mailing list.  To be included on the mailing list, contact Pam Atherton patherton@idoi.in.gov

The website is currently being updated with important information and figures for 2007.  We have received many calls about the Indiana State income tax deduction available for Partnership policies.  The deduction is listed on Schedule 1, #11, using Code 608.  The 2007 state set dollar amount for total asset protection is $217,186 and $110 for the daily benefit.

Reminder – The Indiana Insurance Department does not keep a record of CE credits or the certificates.  Each agent is responsible for producing CE certificates in the event of an audit by the licensing department.  In addition, insurance companies selling Partnership policies are required to obtain a copy of the 7 hour Partnership certificate from the agent.  Effective January 1, 2007, CE providers will use SIRCON to list CE credits on an agent’s record.
