On My Way Pre-K will award grants to four year olds from low-income families so that they may have access to a high-quality Pre-K program the year before they begin Kindergarten. Families who receive a grant may use the grant at any approved On My Way Pre-K Program.
This page will provide news, information and updates on this program, as FSSA and its advisory group and partners move through the process of implementation within the five chosen pilot counties: Allen County, Lake County, Marion County, Jackson County and Vanderburgh County.
APPLICATIONS ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED!
If you are a family of a 4-year old and you live in Allen, Jackson, Lake, Marion or Vanderburgh counties you may be eligible to receive an On My Way Pre-K grant. Your household income must be less than 127% of the Federal Poverty Level and you must be planning on sending your child to Kindergarten in the Fall of 2016.
Studies have repeatedly shown that young children who start school ready for kindergarten do better throughout their school career. Children who succeed in school are much more likely to graduate from high school and attend college.
Start your child on his or her way to success by applying for an On My Way Pre-K Grant.
All applications that are received will be placed in a lottery. Children who are selected during this lottery process will receive a free pre-k education at your choice of eligible pre-k providers. Pre-K programs will start in August 2015. Families who receive an On My Way Pre-K grant will be notified early in May. If you receive a grant, you may choose an eligible provider that best meets your family's needs- either full time or part time pre-k. You may also choose a full year program or one that follows the school calendar. To see a current list of On My Way Pre-K Providers, click here.
It's easy to apply but all applications must be received no later than 5:00 pm ET April 30. Applications can be accepted online, via email, fax or in person. For more information please click on the application link.
