Overview

Indiana employers struggle to find skilled workers to meet their need. Sector partnerships are part of the solution to help the state’s economy thrive and succeed. Approximately 25 sector partnerships exist throughout Indiana in industries such as advanced manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, IT, and logistics. It is critical to understand the activities and resources needed to support and sustain current and future sector partnerships.

Sector Strategies aligns with the following objectives in the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act:

  1. Local workforce boards must use certain funds to develop, convene, or implement sector partnerships; and
  2. States must use a portion of statewide discretionary funds to support local areas in the development, convening, and implementation of industry or sector partnerships.

Successful sector partnerships align programs and systems maximizing resources and avoiding duplication of efforts across agencies and organizations

Mission

The Sector Strategies Taskforce will inform and provide recommendations on:

  • How to provide funding, technical assistance, and/or program initiatives to establish, sustain, and scale local sector partnerships
  • Establishing a statewide definition and performance metrics for local sector partnerships
