Most of them are eager to get a job and lead a productive life. Unfortunately, nearly three-quarters of Hoosier employers are reluctant or flat-out refuse to hire ex-offenders. Without a job, it is nearly impossible for these individuals to establish a new life and become productive citizens. By hiring an ex-offender, you can help them reintegrate into society so they become a taxpayer instead of a tax burden.
Hiring an ex-offender is also a win for you the employer. Employed ex-offenders are some of the most dedicated and productive employees. They are overwhelmingly dependable and punctual and the turnover rate is atypically low because they are loyal to those who have given them a second chance.

Unemployed ex-offenders have an effect on the community. Here are some key facts to consider:
Employers who hire ex-offenders may be eligible for Federal Bonding, a theft insurance program. This program allows employers to profit from an employee’s skills and ability without taking the risk of potential theft or dishonesty. The bond has no deductible and reimburses the employer for any loss due to employee theft. Bonds are issued in $5,000 increments with coverage up to $25,000 per at-risk employee. Bond coverage begins the day the new employee begins working and lasts for six months.
