Debit Card Program

Debit CardThe Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) is committed to delivering premier service to its customers. With this in mind, DWD will begin making all unemployment benefit payments through Visa® debit cards instead of paper checks starting in December 2006. You will be able to use your debit card at a number of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) or at any Visa® bank, with one transaction each benefit week allowed free of charge. Your debit card can also be used as a “point of sale” transaction at any merchant that accepts Visa®. The new debit card system will also enable you to get your benefit payment faster because you will no longer have to wait for your check to be sent through the mail, as the funds in your account will be electronically uploaded each week while you are collecting unemployment benefits. Your deposits will be posted at 10:00 a.m. on the day of the deposit. DWD looks forward to offering you the convenience and security of Visa® debit cards.

Please follow the links provided to learn more about how to use your Visa® debit card.
