More than 260,000 Indiana taxpayers are eligible to participate in Tax Amnesty 2015. These taxpayers soon will receive a letter from the Indiana Department of Revenue announcing their eligibility.

Tax Amnesty 2015 is a limited-time opportunity for both individuals and businesses to pay past-due taxes free of penalty, interest, and collection fees. The program will run from September 15, 2015 through November 16, 2015.

Carefully read your letter to determine your eligibility for Tax Amnesty 2015.

I received a letter from the department which includes a Tax Amnesty 2015 coupon. What should I do?

If you received a letter with a Tax Amnesty 2015 coupon, you are eligible to participate in Tax Amnesty 2015. You received this letter because you have past-due taxes from before January 1, 2013.

To participate in Tax Amnesty 2015 and settle your past-due taxes free of penalty, interest, and collection fees, use the included envelope to send the department your coupon and full payment. If you would prefer to make an online payment, visit www.taxamnesty.in.gov and click on the Amnesty Pay link after September 15.

I received a letter from the department which states I’m eligible for Tax Amnesty 2015, but I didn’t receive a coupon. What should I do?

If you received a letter without a Tax Amnesty 2015 coupon, you are eligible but not required to participate in Tax Amnesty 2015. You received this letter because you have past-due taxes from before January 1, 2013, but one of the following applies:

  • You protested the proposed assessment in a timely manner;
  • You have a liability where the taxpayer advocate has ordered a hold to cease collection efforts and establish a payment plan;
  • You established a payment plan with the department or a collection agent; or
  • Your liability has been placed on hold by the Audit Division or the Special Investigations Unit.

If you would like to participate in Tax Amnesty 2015 and settle your past-due taxes free of penalty, interest, and collection fees, please contact the department using the information provided below.

I did not receive a Tax Amnesty 2015 letter from the department, but I think I’m eligible. What should I do?
