Volunteer Tax Preparers

Volunteer tax preparers play a critical role by helping complete Indiana tax returns for low income, elderly and special needs taxpayers at no cost.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, consider getting involved through the IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs or the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program. The Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR) partners with these organizations to provide training to Hoosier volunteers through our Business Education Outreach Program.

To support volunteer preparers, DOR has created a Volunteer Handbook, which contains legislative updates, due dates, changes to common forms and other information to help you aid Hoosier taxpayers. Additional volunteer resources can be found below.
