Today we have part two of the three-part summer series from our Motor Carrier Services division. Guest blogger Trish is dishing up tips on licensing requirements for carriers who drive trucks through Indiana and at least one other state.
Have you ever wondered what steps you need to take to get your interstate trucking business registered with the Indiana Motor Carrier Services division? (Interstate meaning travel that covers more than one state.) Do you need to set up a new account for your trucking business? Are you tired of going from office to office and state to state to get everything you need to get to your final destination?
Well, at Motor Carrier Services we have a One Stop Shop to meet all your trucking needs. Just follow the three steps below and you’ll quickly be legal to operate your commercial vehicle anywhere in the country.
Step 1
If you have any questions for the Safety and Insurance Department, just call (317)615-7350.
Step 2
Make sure you send the following documents with your application to avoid a delay in processing:
Call us at (317)615-7340 if you have any questions regarding the International Registration Plan.
Step 3
You will need an International Fuel Tax Agreement account or be leased to someone driving under their International Fuel Tax Agreement account. If your services are leased, you must provide a copy of the valid lease agreement along with a copy of a valid International Fuel Tax Agreement credential. If you have any questions regarding the International Fuel Tax Agreement, just call (317)615-7345.
