(Fuel Taxes for Interstate Carriers Based in Indiana)

You must have an IFTA License if you:

Travel in two, or more, jurisdictions and have a motor vehicle used, designed, or maintained for the transportation of persons or property having:

  1. two axles with a gross vehicle weight, or registered weight, in excess of 26,000 pounds;

  2. three axles or more, regardless of weight; or

  3. in combination (power unit and trailing unit) with a combined gross vehicle weight, or combined registered weight, in excess of 26,000 pound

You must have the following items to apply for an IFTA License:

  • A completed Form IFTA-1
  • Proof of a valid Indiana physical address
  • An IRP account number, Farm Plate Registration, or Transporter Plate Registration
  • A USDOT number
  • If incorporated, you must have the corporate officer's information.
  • Pay a fee of 25.00
