Well before the glimmer of morning sun the crew of Operation Migration is stirring about. Like a shuttle launch from Cape Canaveral, it must be “all systems go” before takeoff. The aircraft needs to be in tiptop condition, the weather just right, and a topnotch flight crew and support team ready to perform.
No, this isn’t a scenario from Indianapolis International Airport. Rather, it’s the beginning of another day in an exciting project to return endangered whooping cranes to Indiana skies after a nearly 100 year absence.
