Eagle Watch events provide fantastic opportunities, such as at Monroe Lake.
Opportunities to see eagles in Indiana abound at public programs beginning the first weekend of February.
The annual eagle viewing and raptor presentation at the Cinergy electric plant in Cayuga, Ind. is Feb. 2 and 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The American Eagle Foundation, a privately funded group, will present a raptor program at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Admission is free. Cayuga Station is located on the east side of State Road 63, approximately 30 miles north of Terre Haute and 15 miles south of Interstate 74. For more information, call 800-832-3143.
At Patoka Lake in southern Indiana, Eagle Watch activities are from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 2 at Patoka Lake Visitor Center. Special guests will give updates on the status of eagles in Indiana, and a car caravan tour will travel around the lake on an eagle viewing mission.
A presentation with Eagle C-52, a permanently injured bird, is featured.

At Monroe Lake, reservoir interpretive naturalists and other DNR staff will present programs at the Fourwinds Resort and Marina at Fairfax State Recreation Area near Bloomington Feb. 8-10.
Events include bus tours, slide shows, naturalist talks and up-close views of Eagle C-52, Hawk and Owl, animals permanently injured or with birth defects. The animals are cared for on DNR properties and used in educational programs.
A night hike on Friday will begin with an introduction to an owl. Additionally, hikes for birdwatchers, and information on endangered species preservation will be presented.
