Pioneer Village

Saturdays & Sundays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM: Spend the day immersed in our Indiana history. Visit with blacksmiths, laborers, and the "townsfolk" of our 1860’s village. Admission is free, please call 877-9-SPRING (877-977-7464) with questions.

The Lost River

The Lost River Conservation Assoc. conducts three annual auto/hike field trips of the famed Lost River Karst system. This is a geological, cultural, and historical tour of the "Classic Portion" of Indiana's Lost River Karst System. Tour dates for 2008 are March 29, June 7 and Sept 20, the free scenic tours depart at 8 a.m. from the historic Orleans' bandstand and lasts until about 4:30 p.m. There is a lunch break in between. Hiking is moderate, & those going should dress accordingly. For more info call 317-253-6951

Lawrence County Museum of History

While visiting Spring Mill State Park, you may also wish to visit the new Lawrence County Museum of History, located in downtown Bedford. Guests to the museum can explore an impressive array items ranging from Civil War guns and uniforms, to scale replica of our own Spring Mill village (on loan from the Park) circa 1930s, and a wonderful old Depression-era storefront display. Each month also has some themed displays. June: Area Gardens, July: Civilian Conservation Corps and WPA Projects, August: Baseballs’ Boys of Summer. Hours vary. Admission is free.
