History

Landscape and history blend in a unique setting in Northeast Indianapolis at Ft. Harrison State Park. Located at Post Road and 59th Street, the park features walking and jogging trails, a sledding hill, an interpretive center, guided horse trail rides, hayrides, picnic sites, fishing access to Fall Creek, two national historic districts, and The Fort Golf Resort and Conference Center.

As a historic landmark, The Fort Golf Resort & Conference Center has a rich and colorful heritage. It once served as the Officer’s Club of Ft. Benjamin Harrison. In 1995, due to base realignment and closure processes, 1700 acres of the 2500-acre military post were acquired by the State of Indiana. They became Ft. Harrison State Park, The Fort Golf Course and The Garrison Restaurant and Conference Center.

Today, Fort Harrison State Park continues to preserve the green space that the Army kept out of development from 1903-1996. Today, you can experience forests and meadows, wildlife, and revealing glimpses of the past.

Take Interstate 65 South toward Indianapolis to Interstate 465 East. Follow 465 East to the 56th Street Exit (Exit 40) and turn left (East) onto 56th Street. Turn left (North) on Post Road and follow until the road ends at 59th Street, turn right (East) onto 59th Street. The entrance drive to the golf course, conference center, and lodging is on the North (left-hand) side of the road about one and a half blocks East of Post Road.
Cincinnati, OH:
Take Interstate 65 North toward Indianapolis to Interstate 465 North. Follow 465 North to the 56th Street Exit (Exit 40) and turn right (East) onto 56th Street. Turn left (North) on Post Road and follow until the road ends at 59th Street, turn right (East) onto 59th Street. The entrance drive to the golf course, conference center, and lodging is on the North (left-hand) side of the road about one and a half blocks East of Post Road.

Take Interstate 70 East toward Indianapolis to the Post Road Exit (Exit 91). Follow the right fork of the exit and head North on Post Road and follow until the road ends at 59th Street, turn right (East) onto 59th Street. The entrance drive to the golf course, conference center, and lodging is on the North (left-hand) side of the road about one and a half blocks East of Post Road.
Indianapolis Airport:
Follow the Airport Expressway to Interstate 70 East toward Indianapolis to Interstate 465 North. Follow 465 North to the 56th Street Exit (Exit 40) and turn right (East) onto 56th Street.
