What is Redbird?
Redbird State Recreation Area is the first state owned property designed for motorized off-highway vehicle (OHV) recreation.
Where is Redbird?
It is located on the border of Greene and Sullivan Counties near the town of Dugger.
Can I ride there now?
Yes. Redbird is open for the season. During the summer, the property is open only on weekends and for special events.
Do I need to be registered to ride there?
Yes, your vehicle must be registered as an off road vehicle by the DNR or be registered as a Street Legal vehicle by the BMV. We honor all out-of-state OHV registrations as well.
How big is the property?
Currently, the state owns about 600 acres and more is being purchased.
Who owns the property?
The State of Indiana through the Dept. of Natural Resources owns it, Division of Outdoor Recreation, manages it.
How much will it cost to ride there?
Fees are $10 per day per vehicle and off road vehicles must be registered. You can get registration information on our website.
An annual pass is available for $175. These can be only be purchased at the gatehouse onsite.
Where is the money coming from?
Almost all the money for the project is from Federal grants and Indiana Off-Road vehicle (ORV) registration fees. Future park upkeep dollars will come from ORV registration and riding fees at Redbird.
How can I help make this happen?
The DNR has been working extensively with Discover Indiana Riding Trails (DIRT) and IFWDA Contact them if you would like to part of this cooperative project.
