Written Directions
The Natural Resources Education Center (NREC) is located within Fort Harrison State Park. Fort Harrison State Park is located on the Northeast side of Indianapolis in Marion County. The entrance to the park is at the corner of 59th Street and Post Road. (Note: A search for directions on the Internet using our 5785 Glenn Road mailing address will not provide you with proper directions for reaching our facility.)
From I-69 Southbound: Take I-465 South to East 56th Street/Shadeland Ave. exit.
From I-65 Northbound: Take I-465 West to 465 North to East 56th Street/Shadeland Ave. exit.
From I-65 Southbound: Take I-865/I-465 East to East 56th Street/Shadeland Ave. exit.
From I-70 Westbound: Take Post Road North to "T" at 59th Street into the Park Entrance. Or take I-465 North on east side of Indianapolis to 56th Street Exit.
From I-70 Eastbound: Go through Indianapolis on I-70 to I-465 North on the east side of Indianapolis, to 56th Street Exit.
From I-465 North or South on the East side of Indianapolis: Take 56th Street exit, East. (Follow the brown highway signs to Fort Harrison State Park.) Go 1.5 miles to Post Road, turn left at light, to "T" at 59th Street. Turn left at "T" into Fort Harrison State Park. Follow the park road to the left turn over the bridge (follow NREC signs). Take the first left at top of road, around to NREC parking lot. We are the larger building in the middle between the Interpretive Center and the Park Office.
From Pendleton Pike: Take Post Road north to "T" at 59th Street. Turn left into Fort Harrison State Park. Follow the park road to the left turn left turn over the bridge (follow NREC signs). Take the first left at top of road, around to NREC parking lot. We are the larger building in the middle between the Interpretive Center and the Park Office.
