This event is part of The Gary Storm Water Management District's Storm Water Public Education and Outreach Program. Storm water run off can cause water pollution when oil, gasoline, fertilizer, pesticides, and pet and animal waste are washed off streets and lawns by rain and melted snow.
Our project objective is to reduce the impacts of storm water pollution emphasizing that everyone can take small steps to avoid contributing to the build up of waste materials on the land in our communities. These include the correct handling of garbage and household hazardous waste such as used batteries, electronics, and paint thinner, proper lawn care practices, and auto and septic system maintenance in our homes and neighborhoods.
