May is now National Historic Preservation Month! Throughout the month DHPA and other local historical organizations highlight historic preservation around the country. Originally created in 1971 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as Preservation Week, this celebration includes a myriad of tours of historic sites, lectures and exhibits, award banquets, and a variety of other preservation related functions and events.
In the past the Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology (DHPA) has partnered with state wide and local preservation groups to focus Preservation Week activities in the historic districts, main streets, and communities of Indiana. Through cooperative agreements, the DHPA has provided financial assistance for landmark safari brochures, preservation awards, walking tours, guest lectures, and posters celebrating Preservation Week.
If you would like to submit your local Historic Preservation event for inclusion in our 2007 calendar, please click here to open a submission form (in Microsoft Word format) and follow the instructions at the bottom.
