Cornelius O'Brien-Indiana Main Street Conference

Historic Preservation and Archaeology
Indiana University Department of History
Indiana Main Street

The DHPA partners with Indiana University, Indiana Main Street, and Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana to host the annual Cornelius O'Brien-Indiana Main Street Conference. This statewide conference is the official forum for preservation issues in Indiana.

Relevant session topics are chosen based on the host community. Speakers regularly include preservationists from around the state, as well as national figures. The conference features an opening reception, plenary and concurrent sessions, a keynote speaker, and tours of preservation highlights in the host community. Some sessions are free and open to the public, while others require a registration fee.

Who should attend?

This conference features presentations by local, regional and national experts on various aspects of historic preservation, archaeology and Main Street issues. The conference provides an opportunity for novices and practitioners (preservationists, teachers, county historians, municipal and county planners, Main Street members, directors and board members) to meet each other and speakers in a congenial setting.

The 2008 Cornelius O'Brien-Indiana Main Street Conference will be October 16-18, 2008 in Bloomington, Indiana..
