Tony Samuel

Tony Samuel serves as the Deputy Commissioner and Chief of Staff for the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance. In these roles, Mr. Samuel assists Commissioner Musgrave in overseeing the department and serves as a liaison with other branches of state government. As Chief of Staff, Mr. Samuel oversees personnel issues and works to ensure that the department is adequately staffed and running efficiently. He also serves as the department’s representative on the nine-member School Property Tax Control Board.

Mr. Samuel joined the DLGF in August of 2007 after serving as the Communications Director for the Republican Caucus in the Indiana House of Representatives since December of 2001. Prior to this, he worked as a Communications Specialist for the Indiana Department of Education for approximately four years. He began his career in government in 1993 as a Special Assistant to U.S. Congressman Steve Buyer, who now serves Indiana’s fourth congressional district.

Mr. Samuel holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs with his concentration being in Public Financial Administration. He, his wife Anita, and their daughter Lilly reside on the northwest side of Marion County and are members of Covenant Community Church.
