Board Membership

The local government tax control board consists of nine members, seven of whom are voting members and two of whom are nonvoting members.

The seven voting members shall be appointed as follows:
1. One member appointed by the State Board of Accounts.
2. One member appointed by the Department of Local Government Finance.
3. Five members appointed by the Governor. Three of the members appointed by the Governor must be citizens of Indiana who do not hold a political or elective office in state or local government. The Governor may seek the recommendation of representatives of the cities, towns, and counties before appointing the other two members to the board.
The two nonvoting members of the board shall be appointed as follows:
1. One member of the House of Representatives, appointed by the Speaker of the House.
2. One member of the senate, appointed by the president pro tempore of the senate.
All members of the local government tax control board shall serve at the will of the board or person that appointed them.
