Permits and jurisdiction

A Blue River Permit may be necessary for any improvements done within 50 feet of the Blue River included in the Natural, Scenic, and Recreational River Program. More detailed definitions and descriptions can be found in the Law and the MOU linked below. The applications for permits are available online.

These can be printed and filled out and sent to the Blue River Commission.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Indiana DNR and the Blue River Commission, defines the responsibilities and jurisdiction of the Commission.

Indiana Natural, Scenic, and Recreational River System Law describes the criteria and purpose of the River system.

The River Commission Law allows for the establishment of River Commissions for streams defined above.
