Year-Round Registration

You may have noticed a message on your 2008 registration renewal notices indicating that your renewal date is changing in 2009. The current renewal cycle creates peaks on the 15th and 30th of each month, leading to busy branches around those two days separated by periods of downtime for branch staff during the rest of the month. In 2009, the 10 months of registration from February to October will be expanding to 48 weeks to provide a smoother flow of customer transactions throughout the year. The highest volume of registrations on a single due date should decrease from 625,000 to 398,000.

The BMV has conducted extensive testing and found the new Year-Round Registration initiative to be successful and plans are in place to provide you with a new registration date for 2009. As the end of 2008 approaches, you will be hearing more about this new program and its benefits.
