Every vehicle registered in Indiana must bear a license plate in a visible location on the rear of the vehicle. Regular license plates are issued for vehicles registered in Indiana every four years, or when a newly acquired vehicle is registered in the state, or when a vehicle owner becomes a resident of the state. Special recognition license plates allows motorists to support Indiana universities, colleges, military personnel, and various organizations.
Hoosiers who purchase a special recognition license plate should expect to pay the following fees:
Customers may request any available license plate with a low number (from 1-100) for an additional $30.
For further information on obtaining a special recognition license plate, contact one of the organizations listed below to request an application. Once you complete and return the application and donation (if required) to the sponsoring organization, the organization will send you an authorization form that can be taken to any license branch to obtain a license plate.
All Indiana license plates that support military personnel are available as motorcycle plates except the "Support Our Troops" plate.

May be used on: Passenger cars, trucks up to 11,000 pounds, motorcycles, and recreational vehicles
Initial applications must be accompanied by State Form 32584 from Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs. Eligibility will be verified through the Veterans Affairs Regional office. The verification will ascertain the condition and rating. Local offices cannot verify eligibility.
Fees: Only registration charges 
Eligibility: Applicants and their spouses or widows must be certified as eligible by the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs.

Initial applications must be accompanied by State Form 32584 from Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs. Eligibility will be verified through the Veterans Affairs Regional office. Local offices cannot verify eligibility.

Eligibility: Applicants must present a copy of their DD214 or discharge papers. Active service members must provide an Active Military ID and current LES.

Eligibility: Active members of the Indiana Army or Air National Guard. Statute specifically limits elegibility to Indiana Guard only.

A current armed forces identification card and an authorization form (Form 402A for Indiana Army, Form 402AF for Air National Guard) from the unit commander identifying the person as a current, active members. Verification required each subsequent renewal year.
