Whether registering your vehicle for the first time or renewing your registration, you will pay an excise tax fee and a registration fee. Passenger vehicles and recreational vehicles have separate excise tax rates.

Customers living in certain counties will also pay a surtax or wheel tax.

Passenger Vehicle Excise Tax Fees

The age of a vehicle is measured in years and is counted from the manufacturer's model year. For example, a new vehicle purchased in 2010 may actually have been a 2011 model year, and the age of the vehicle would be counted from 2011 to the present year.

The vehicle price is determined by the manufacturer's original retail price.
