INDIANAPOLIS – On Thursday, November 17, Auditor of State Connie Nass became the
second annual recipient of Indiana Commission for Women’s Torchbearer Award in the area of
Financial Services. To be eligible, a nominee must have demonstrated one or more of the
following:
· An important and noticeable contribution to her community, State or industry.
· Achievement under challenging circumstances.
· An example for other Hoosier women on how to effect change for the better.
· Leading the way to making Indiana a better place to live, work, or raise a family by
removing barriers to equality.
A native of Huntingburg, Connie Nass took office as a member of the Huntingburg City
Council in Dubois County in January 1980. After two four-year terms, she was elected mayor,
serving two terms. Elected Indiana’s 53rd Auditor of State in 1998, Auditor Nass was re-elected
in 2002. The nomination was made by employees of the Office of the Auditor of State.
