Indianapolis – Carl Zapfe, Director of Finance in the office of Indiana State Auditor Connie Nass, will be awarded the Indiana CPA Society’s “2004 Outstanding CPA in Government Award” at the Society’s dinner and award program on October 15. Carl has worked with the State Auditor since May, 2000. Each year he prepares Indiana state government’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (“CAFR”). This report presents the official financial information regarding Indiana state government. A copy is available on-line at www.in.gov/auditor/ or by request to Auditor Nass’s office.

“Carl does an excellent job preparing the State’s financial report. His responsibilities include directing implementation of new government accounting standards such as GASB 34, which has brought government financial statements more in line with those used in the private sector” stated Auditor Nass. “Each year that Carl has prepared our CAFR we have received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.”

Carl received his B.A. degree in 1970 from Marian College in Indianapolis and his M.B.A. from Indiana University in 1981.
